As the WA citrus season is in full flourish, Stuart takes a road trip to see what’s ready to be picked!

  • WA has some of the best and varying climates to produce a wide range of fresh full flavoured citrus all throughout the year
  • Citrus farmer Shane Kay is currently harvesting clementine mandarins, M7 navel oranges and Navelina oranges are just about to begin harvest at his farm in Gin Gin
  • Shane explains there is an industry standard that citrus farmers in WA uphold to ensure the best eating quality of the fruit and the right ratio of flavour
  • WA has some of the best citrus in the country
  • A huge 95% of WA citrus is sold locally
  • Across the state, almost 20 thousand tonnes of citrus is produced every year!
  • We produce grapefruits, lemons, oranges and juicing fruits
  • When looking to buy local citrus at your grocery store, look for something that identifies the produce with WA
  • Sometimes there will be a sticker on the fruit with WA or the grocer may have a point of sale indication of where the produce is from
  • Fresh citrus is full of vitamin C, antioxidants and provides a great energy boost
  • Support our local farmers by buying fresh local citrus!
  • On top of all that WA citrus supports the footy half-time, with fresh oranges for our little all-stars!
