Canning Vale’s Market City is a bustling hub of all things fruit and veg.

  • Not just a wholesale market, Market City is a diverse mix of businesses involved in food retailing, business service providers and the Sunday Markets.
  • The site plays a critical role in WA’s fresh produce supply, making a significant contribution to the state’s economy.
  • Just 16km south of the CBD, Market City takes up a whopping 51 hectares of land. It’s a well-oiled machine, with over 230,000 tonnes of fresh fruit and veg traded annually.
  • There are over 600 regular buyers coming here each week to buy some of WA’s freshest produce for supermarkets, restaurants and food service businesses.
  • WA’s climate helps to produce great produce, such as Geraldton cucumbers and Wanneroo zucchini.
  • WA Farm Direct has been servicing the state for 3 generations, starting in 1915 in Kalgoorlie, before moving to the East Perth markets, then West Perth, and eventually settling in Market City.
  • Growers in Manjimup and the surrounding areas produce 70% of Australia’s avocados, 90% of WA’s broccoli and 50% of our apples. The Gascoyne region provides delicious tomatoes, capsicums, bananas, rock melons and mangoes.
  • Market City is home to some of the state’s best meat and seafood. There is a meat processing facility on site, and a seafood auction is held every day.
  • The Saturday and Sunday markets have an astounding amount of produce – it’s an incredible process.
