When it comes to fruit and veg, you can’t beat the freshness of local producers such as P&A Farms.
- P&A Farms are a second-generation family run business that grow some of the best leafy greens in WA. They’ve been in operation for the 65 years.
- There are 4 varieties of lettuce produced here – red coral, red oak, green coral and green festival. On top of this, they also produce spinach and a range of Chinese herbs.
- The farm covers 25 acres, and it is mostly baby leaf grown here. These are fast growing – there is just 5 weeks from seeding to harvesting.
- P&A Farms offer a micro-herb range, and it comes in a biodegradable pot. The pot is made from a coconut husk, and as a result of this, requires less watering.
- The living herbs on offer include parsley, oregano, mint and thyme. The micro-herb range includes purple basil, lemon balm and red cabbage. There are 13 varieties of micro-herbs and 12 varieties of living herbs.
- For a quick and easy salad, take some rocket, sprouts, dried cherries and sliced strawberries. Add sunflower seeds, then some micro-herbs to add flavour to the salad. Add some parsley and basil, then mix it all together.
- Add some dressing – egg and Dijon mustard works well – then plate it.
