Swan Valley Nursery

Story: Swan Valley Nursery
Episode: 1
Presenter: Stuart Laws
Air Date: 27th September 2020

There’s nothing better than picking herbs fresh from the garden and using them in your favourite dish. Stuart shares his favourite culinary herbs for growing this spring.

  • Swan Valley Nursery is home to Western Australia’s largest range of edible plants. If you’ve ever bought a punnet of herbs at your local garden centre, it was probably grown there.
  • Growing your own produce has become increasingly popular over the past year.
  • Home-grown produce is not only highly nutritious but low on food miles as well, making it better for the environment.
  • If you don’t have enough room in your garden, planters are perfect for growing herbs. All you need is potting mix, water, sun and a little bit of TLC.
  • Plant variety of herbs to cover all of your culinary needs, like thyme for steak, sage for chicken and pork, oregano and basil for vegetables, dill for seafood and mint for cocktails.
  • As the weather warms up in Western Australia, there’s no better time to plant a herb garden or try your hand at growing heirloom vegetables.
