Potatoes are a staple in many diets and are eaten all year round. Georgia takes us to the heart of WA’s potato production and shows us why our potatoes are so fresh.

  • Beta Spuds manage all aspects of their potato production.
  • Beta Spuds production occurs out of their Binningup farm in WA which is made up of 450 acres of irrigated land on a 750-acre property.
  • The large farm and production space provides a good rotation of growing that enables the farmers to produce approximately 4.5 thousand tonnes of potatoes from June to December.
  • Beta Spuds also have numerous farms located in Pemberton, producing approximately 6,000 tonnes of potatoes.
  • Beta Spuds coordinates planting and harvesting with other WA growers located in Baldivis, Busselton, and Gingin to guarantee a year-round supply of produce.
  • Once the produce has been harvested it is brought to Beta Spuds in large 1-tonne bins to begin the 4-stage washing process method that Beta Spuds adopts
  • The Hydro Cooler machine reduces the pulp temperature of the potatoes to 8˚C, locking in the freshness for longer.
  • Beta Spuds are accredited with SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing since 1999. Hence, their potatoes are produced, processed and handled according to the highest standards.
  • In 2016 Beta Spuds became accredited to HARPS (Harmonised Australian Retailer Produce Scheme).
  • Beta Spuds grows over a dozen varieties of potatoes and delivers their produce to stores within 12 hours from harvest.
